In Paris, from 4th to 6th September 6009 AL, the Conference of Grand Masters of Europe took place, organized by the Grand National Lodge of France (GLNF). The gathering was attended by the large number of Grand Masters, representatives of 34 states of Europe, including the Grand Master of the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia, Brother Petar Kostic, accompanied by the Grand Secretary for International Affairs, Brother T.H. The conference was presided by the Most respected BrotherJean Claude Tardiat (Deputz Grand Master of GLNF). Agenda of the Conference comprised of the following topics:
The discussion has been steered by the initiative from the Grand Lodges of Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg and Grand East of Netherlands, for comment on 11 suggested topics in the work agenda that insist on the regular organization of the European meeting of Grand Masters from the Regular Lodges. In the first part of the Conference, Grand Masters from the Regular Lodges, have mutualz informed each other about various problems with which free masonry is facing in Europe. This report has to state about extensive problems that arise between Free Masonry and with other orders, such as Scottish order. It was interesting to learn about the problems between Grand Lodge of Spain and the Grand Commander of the Scottish order. Grand Lodge of Spain has canceled concordat to Scottish order, and made a new one. Other examples, such as Italy have been presented as well. The decision was that all Regular Lodges in Europe have the obligation to support all the Grand Lodges that are facing such problems. The most Respected Brother, Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, Peter Lowendes, stated that most of the problems are caused by the individuals with big personal ambitions, and that are elected for the highest positions in side orders, therefore he asked all the Brother, to neutralize such behavior of certain individuals. Most Respected Grand Master of the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia, Brother Petar Kostic, has stated that Serbia faced inappropriate behavior and violation of Mason codex by some of the respected Brothers and by a few of Europena Grand Lodges. Grand Master, Petar Kostic, wisely decided not to mention the specific names of these Brothers and their respective Lodges due to a very friendly and brotherly atmosphere of the entire meeting. Never the less, he did mention that these Brothers insisted on the negotiations between irregular and regular Lodges of Serbia, and also allowed themselves to be present at the meeting of the Irregular Lodge in Serbia, which was, according to him, a big mistake. After the expressed support for our presentation, a public apology has been given to our Grand Master Petar Kostic and to our Lodge, for such inappropriate actions. Grand Master Petar Kostic has given its full support for the organization of the European meetings. He has also pointed out the paradox that two years ago, in Portland, USA, at the conference of the Grand Masters of North America, Canada and Mexico, at the official meeting of the Commission for recognizing, 8 out of 10 cases concerned Free Masonry in Europe. That fact justifies the need to organize the meetings of Grand Masters of Europe’s Regular Lodges. At the end of that session, that took place on Saturday, 05.09.2009, from 09 / 17h, the presided most Respected Brother Jean Claude Tardiat, asked all participants to vote on the need and principles of organizing such European meetings. By vote, it was decided that the next meeting of Grand Masters of Europe will take place in Brussels, 18 months from the meeting in Paris. Unanimously they have decided that the next host for the meeting will be Brussels, capital of the European Union. |
