In September 2008, after the summer recess, RGLS continued its regular activities with formal ritual workings, thus officially opening the New Masonic Year 6008/6009. At the working, more than 180 attending members were informed about internal and international activities of Grand Lodge during summer, after which the plans for the ensuing year were discussed. The festivity ended with cocktail and best wishes exchanged among brethren. Grand Officers Lodge and Grand Council also held their regular meetings on the same day. First notable activities were visible immediately after the opening of the season with the humanitarian concert for underprivileged children and charity dinner with proceedings going toward funds for handicapped. Besides the ordinate workings, some of the Lodges are preparing for the anniversaries. Lodge no.3, the light of Balkans-Garibaldi is celebrating 132 years of existence. This Lodge's founding members in 1875 were, among other notable brethren, Mico Ljubibratic, leader of popular uprising in Herzegovina, professors of The Great School Svetomir Nikolajevic and Mihajlo Valtrovic, sculptor Petar Ubavkic and others. Lodge no.8 Dositej Obradovic, founded in 1922. is celebrating its 86th anniversary, and some of their well known brothers were Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric, Rastko Petrovic and Viktor Novak. |
